Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah & Ouarzazate

After meeting our team at your hotel/Riad ( @ 08h00 AM), you start your journey driving towards the stunning High Atlas Mountains, passing via Tizi Ntichka pass ‘2260M above the sea level. You will stop to appreciate the panoramic views before continuing your trip to one of the grandest of all the Atlas fortresses – the Kasbah of Telouet. At an altitude of over 7000 feet, this is the one-time strategic home of the ‘Lord of the Atlas’, the warrior brothers Glaoui, who ruled and rampaged over southern Morocco during the French Protectorate. Sir Winston Churchill and other VIPs were once on the exclusive guest list. The splendour of the Kasbah is gently fading, yet there is more than enough left of this fascinating and ancient residence to give you a fine example of another epoch in Morocco’s colorful history.
From here, continue east, enjoying the scenic views of the valley to the medieval mud-brick town of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah in Morocco, it is a famous house of the Glaoui’s family and a UNESCO historical matrimonial listed. Perched on a hilltop and almost unchanged since the 11th century, Ait Benhaddou is one of Morocco’s most iconic sites. If you think you recognize the place, you probably do, as the town has a long list of film and TV credits, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones, and Gladiator. Enjoy a walk through the winding streets of the old town, making your way to the top of the hill, from where you can enjoy the views across the surrounding plains.
After lunch, head to the desert hub and filming location of Ouarzazate. Join a movie studio tour and discover which of your favorite movies were filmed in the nearby desert regions. Movie buffs may appreciate a visit to the Musée du Cinema. Then return to Marrakech through the winding roads of the High Atlas. Drop off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
